So this happened today:
Brandon smoked a brisket…first one of the year. I told him I was channeling our moms last night. I made his mom’s sauce and my mom’s potato salad.
It was delicious and I hope there will be more of them before summer is over!
We’re sitting in the airport in Houston. Technically, it’s still January 10, but we’re scheduled to take off just after midnight. We’ll be losing a day when we cross the international date line, so I won’t have any time to post on January 11, since it will be January 12 when we land.
It’s been an interesting journey so far. We thought we had our luggage figured out, but when they weighed our carry on bags, they were too heavy, so we had to do some shifting around before we could check in. Thankfully, we managed, but then had to wait for an eternity (actually about 20 minutes) to pay for our extra bag because, apparently, there is only one agent who can run a credit card. Whatever. We paid. We spent 2 minutes in security and now we’re waiting for our flight to board so we can go home.
I just want to go home.
Next update will be from closer to home. Closer to my own bed and my own cat.
This morning was spent running around taking pictures of stuff around town for Brandon’s students. It took longer than we expected, but we had a good time.
We started at the Kemah Boardwalk.
Then we went to see the space shuttle at Space Center Houston.
Next, we went across the street to see the stuff they have outside the Johnson Space Center…like this monster:
And surprisingly, these longhorns:
We’ve spent a lot of time shopping in the last couple of weeks. A lot. Today we had lunch with my older brother and then headed to a couple of party stores in search of makeup and masks for our musical. We had a wonderful time perusing the aisles.
I was looking for plain white masks. Brandon thought this one was a better idea.
Need a mustache? They had a few styles to choose from.
Brandon’s idea for next Halloween. Yeah…not going to happen.
We spent the late morning/early afternoon in San Antonio with Brandon’s brother and our very cute nephew Oliver.
A good time was had by all!
One of the things I missed most in Japan is good Texas BBQ. In particular, I miss Rudy’s because everything is so delicious. Today, we got to eat Rudy’s and it did not disappoint.
Found a friend at Target today.
One more day and we’ve completed our 365 days of photos!
